Successful Treatment of Giant Cell Arteritis with Tocilizumab: Report of 2 Cases with Review of the Literature
نویسنده
چکیده
Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a systemic vasculitis of medium and large vessels. Corticotherapy is the cornerstone treatment, but most patients fail to reach remission or relapse during the weaning of Glucocorticoids (GC). Here we report 2 patients with corticoid dependent GCA, successfully treated with Tocilizumab (TCZ), with a rapid clinical and biological outcome allowing the tapering of GC, and we review the literature of the treatments used in GCA. Histopathologic Features of Giant Cell Arteritis in an Actinic Granuloma Lesion
The association between actinic granuloma and giant cell arteritis (temporal arteritis) has been claimed by some authors. There is a hypothesis that actinic radiation has the principal role in the etiology of both diseases in a similar way. Here, we report a case of actinic granuloma that had characteristic pathologic features of giant cell arteritis in histopathologic examination without clini...
متن کاملSuccessful Treatment of a Patient with Giant Cell Vasculitis (Horton Arteritis) with Tocilizumab a Humanized Anti-Interleukin-6 Receptor Antibody
Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is the most common form of systemic vasculitis in adults, affecting preferentially medium-large size arteries. Here we report a case of a female with a diagnosis of GCA based on temporal artery biopsy, successfully treated with tocilizumab, a humanized anti-interleukin-6 receptor antibody.
متن کاملGiant cell tumor of patella: A case report and review of literature
Objective: Patella is a sesamoid bone which develops in the quadriceps tendon. It is an uncommon site for neoplasms. The most common primary tumors which involve patella are benign. These include chondroblastoma, giant cell tumor (GCT) and aneurysmal bone cyst. Malignant lesions are less common in patella. These encompass metastasis, osteosarcoma and hemangioendothelioma. The most common compla...

متن کاملLong-term efficacy and safety of tocilizumab in giant cell arteritis and large vessel vasculitis
Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a chronic systemic vasculitis affecting large-sized and medium-sized vessels. Glucocorticoids are currently the mainstay of treatment for GCA and associated large vessel vasculitis (LVV) but are associated with frequent adverse events. Methotrexate has only demonstrated a modest benefit while anti-TNF biological agents (infliximab and etanercept) have been ineffica...
